    Yumepirika rice (ゆめぴりか) Rice Tasting Profile

    Yumepirika rice (ゆめぴりか) from Hokkaido (北海道), is notable for it's premium taste (優れた味) and hearty stature (強い風味). Introduced fairly recently to Japan (2011), it is noted for it's low amylose content (アミロース含量が低い), a.k.a. starch (米澱粉), delectable stickiness (おいしい粘着性) and chewy texture (モチモチした食感), complimented by a natural sweetness (甘い) even when served cold (冷製). 

    When cooked, Yumepirika rice (ご飯) exhibits a glossy reflectiveness (光沢と輝きのある外観) while appearing soft to the touch (ソフトな手触り). Of note, Yumepirika rice also boasts a nutty smell (ナッツの香り) to it and a pleasing aftertaste (心地よい後味), making it most suitable for more Yoshoku (洋宿) dinners with pronounced seasoning and heavier flavours. 🍘

    Nanatsuboshi rice (ななつぼし) Rice Tasting Profile

    Nanatsuboshi rice (ななつぼし) from Hokkaido (北海道), boasts the largest planted area in the region, occupying approximately half the planting crop of all rice farms in the area. It is considered to be one of the top three rice varieties of Hokkaido. This Special A (スペシャルA) rice variety is resistant to cold temperatures (低温に強い) during the flowering season (開花期), allowing for greater yields. 

    As a compliment to your meal, Nanatsuboshi presents a pleasing combination of sweetness (甘い) and stickiness (粘り強い) with notable springiness (もちもち) yet firm to the touch. This rice is often served both cold and hot (温冷調理) as it is able to retain its strong flavour and aroma (強い香りを保つ), making it ideal for a packed lunch or quick simple dinners (一汁一菜) 🍙
